The Event

The employee-owned Childbase Partnership is on a mission to give children the best possible start in life. Providing state of the art innovative learning through play programmes across their 45 nurseries, fun is an essential ingredient in their childcare and education.

In 2022, to celebrate the extraordinary colleagues responsible for Childbase’s success all the staff were invited to Wonderland: a day event consisting of an AGM, conference and awards ceremony, followed by a staff party like no other – all delivered and produced by Kambe Events.

Our team transformed Herts County Showground into an immersive and surreal dreamland, brought to life with walkabout performers, sustainable décor, themed venues and world class entertainment.

Wonderland was also the first greenfield event held in the UK to be completely free from disposable serveware – you can read all about that here.

Staff were welcomed at the gates by the Mad Hatter and friends, before heading towards Coco’s Lounge for a day of speeches, awards, recognition and celebration with entertainment from fantastic live bands and musicians.

As the sun began to set things got curiouser and curiouser as guests were invited to explore all this outlandish world had to offer. Stumbling down the secret Rabbit Hole, having a tipple at the Drink Me Bar, relaxing with a hot drink in the Magic Teapot, setting up to glamp in the luxury bell tents in Alice’s Fields and heading into Wonderland, the main venue, for a night of top-secret, world class music!

The Wonderland stage saw the likes of Tinchy Stryder, Scouting For Girls, Fatman Scoop and Basement Jaxx as the Childbase team danced and sang their way late into the night.
